Back To All Staff

Sylvia Marchael

Executive Director/Major Fundraising
Nevada Leadership

I was born in Long Beach California. I was raised with 1 sister and 3 brothers. I am the mother of 2 wonderful sons and the grandmother of 2 precious grandsons. I began my walk with the Lord in July of 2006. In February of 2010, I moved to Las Vegas to join the staff at the Walter Hoving Home. I am now currently Executive Director of the Home in Las Vegas. Being a product of the Home myself has given me the desire and the compassion to mentor and reach out to other women who are going through similar trials that I faced in my past. I believe that I was truly called by God to serve here in Las Vegas and to give back by helping these broken women that come through the doors of the Walter Hoving Home.

God has redeemed me and has delivered me from a horrible past of a 23 year drug addiction and the violence that goes along with it.

Here in Las Vegas, the Walter Hoving Home has a 10 bed facility. The Home focuses on women 18 years and older, who have life controlling addictions to drugs, alcohol and/or prostitution.

The Home is a faith-based discipleship program where the women are able to get to the root issues of what led them down a destructive path. Here, they are able to find freedom and a new way of living.

I know all too well how the strongholds of the enemy can overpower and consume, but I have freedom now and I give all the glory to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

What is one of your favorite memories at WHH?

One of my favorite memories at the Walter Hoving Home was attending a women’s retreat in Murrieta Hot Springs. I met so many wonderful Christian women there. I was honored to be able to share my testimony and make new friendships for life.

What makes you laugh?
