It has been my privilege to work with the Hoving Home ministry for more than 45 years, first in Garrison, New York, and now at our Home in Pasadena, California. During those years I have personally witnessed the transformation of the lives of so many special young ladies, many of whom have become personal friends. Words from scripture best explain what makes this such a worthwhile and rewarding life‑calling, For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy. I Thess. 2:19‑20
Prior to joining with the Home in 1967, I attended Bethany Fellowship Missionary Training Center in Minneapolis (now Bethany Global University). Those were three of the best years of my life. Being able to study under godly instructors and make friends with fellow students who had similar life goals was an experience for which I am eternally grateful. I loved every minute of it! Immediately after Bethany, I attended Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis and received my Registered Nurse diploma. It was after working for just one year as a Registered Nurse that I wrote to Brooklyn Teen Challenge in New York asking if they needed help in the Girls’ Home. John Benton’s immediate “Yes” response began my Hoving Home journey.

What is your favorite scripture?
My life verse: But we see Jesus . . .Heb. 2:9
My new favorite scripture: For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet call of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. I Thess. 4:16-17
What book is on your nightstand?
The Spiritual Man by Watchman Nee
What is one of your favorite memories at WHH?
One fun memory of life at the Hoving Home is when all the staff and ladies piled into the vehicles and drove down to visit David Wilkerson at Camp David in Texas. We traveled in a multi-vehicle caravan from Garrison, New York to Graham, Texas, stopping each evening to present a choir concert at a church along the way. It was lots of fun stopping to eat along the way and testing Dad B’s patience with the women’s bathroom lines!
What is your favorite food?
Love Tacos, Nachos . . . and Lefse!
What makes you laugh?
Walking in the front door, being greeted by my two lively pups! Sugar and Spice each grab their favorite stuffed duck and run wildly back and forth, jumping here and there, showing their excitement to see me! Can’t beat that for a happy home-coming!
