Learning Center Principle & Choir Director
My Name is Barbara Brown. I am 47 years old and I am from southern California. I have an older brother and an older sister. My Father worked for Trans World Airlines & my Mother was a stay-at-home mom. I have a beautiful daughter whom I love with all my heart.
I was a shy, quiet girl growing up without any guidance, direction or boundaries. I had few friends and one of them introduced me to marijuana. I liked the way it made me feel and it led me to drinking alcohol & later progressed to all types of other drugs. I was trying to fill the emptiness & loneliness of life that I felt. I spent a lot of years “self-medicating”.
In July 2010 my life forever changed when I was arrested & court-ordered to a 6 month program. As soon as I walked through the doors of The Walter Hoving Home in Pasadena I felt love, peace & hope for my future. It was at the home where I developed an intimate relationship with my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. I liked the changes that were happening to me so I stayed & completed the year. I also become a graduate of the home in August 2012.
The Lord gently brought me back to the home for restoration in 2013 and since completing I have joined the staff at The Walter Hoving Home in Las Vegas. How great is our God that He brought me to His banqueting table and His banner over me is love.
Here at the Vegas home I am the Learning Center Principal & Choir Director. I serve the Lord by guiding our ladies in their spiritual journey and I thank God as well as John & Elsie Benton for this opportunity to do His will. I am also so grateful to the staff & ladies at the Pasadena home. I have the greatest co-workers in Sylvia & Tina. It is such a joy to work here with all our ladies whom I truly love so much. It is so wonderful to witness the Lord transform the lives, hearts & minds of these ladies.
Psalm 111:2-5 Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them. Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever. He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and compassionate. He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever.
